What a treat is planned for Chicago soccer fans! Call it Christmas in July, as some of the best of the best in the world of football are coming to Chicago. Mark your calendars now for Wednesday, July 30th.
That is when the Premier League, generally considered the best teams in the sport, will feature a doubleheader right here at our very own Soldier Field.
It is part of the 2025 Premier League Summer Series, which will feature four teams playing a round robin of doubleheaders in three different United States cities. The event is brought to the city by the Chicago Sports Commission, a non-profit organization that promotes and supports sporting events in the city to boost economic development.
Leg one will be at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, leg three will be at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, but the middle leg, the second round, will be right here in our beautiful city.
The doubleheader will feature a 5:30 p.m. matchup between West Ham United and Club Everton, and then at 8:30 p.m., Manchester United will take on AFC Bournemouth.
What a treat for the Chicago soccer fan!
We discovered just how strong the following for the Premier League is in our city when last summer something new was tried.
It was called Premier League Mornings Live Fan Festival, with fans invited to gather en masse to watch games Sunday mornings right in Lincoln Park, with big-screen TVs set up for all to watch.
It was hugely popular, and may have been the inspiration for bringing the Summer Series to Chicago this year.
Tickets for the doubleheader (one ticket, you get to see all four teams!) are available at the Premier League website.
