Fairmont Chicago debuts Lake House, the ultimate in-town getaway experience

A lake house in the city? Fairmont Chicago has got you covered with the debut of its own version of a getaway experience. Fairmont’s Lake House attracted a full house of guests on May 18 when it presented Lake House, a fun-filled happening held in the lobby to celebrate the spirit of summer, the greatest season in the world’s greatest city.

The activation, imagined by Wayne Harth and brought to life by Kehoe Designs, featured beachy decor, sand castles, a swing, muscled life-guards, a seafood boil, summer beers and cocktails, BBQ and grilled corn on the cob, great desserts, kids’ activities including ski-ball, darts and corn hole, plus dozens of fun photo opps for the Instagrammer in you.

Clay Spencer, Fairmont Chicago general manager, welcomed guests and explained the concept. He said, “A lake house is a magical place. You feel like you’re a million miles away. You can enjoy great food, fire pits, live entertainment and so much more. It’s a different feeling when you’re in an environment like that so, we at the Fairmont, wanted to bring the lake house into the city and to you.”

During the winter, the Fairmont presented the Lodge, another exciting seasonal experience (which Spencer said “will return bigger and better” next year). The Lake House will last through mid-September.
