Following a multi-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Newberry Library is set to launch its 36th annual book fair on Friday, July 29. The event will feature thousands of donated books, each costing $3 or less, and book purchases will support the library's mission of promoting a deeper understanding of the world through learning and research.
The free literary festival will run from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. July 29-31 and will include a storytelling activity from 1-4:30 p.m. July 30 at Washington Square Park, as well as an inaugural $25,000 Pattis Family Foundation Chicago Book Award, to be presented to "Three Girls from Bronzeville" author Dawn Turner at 4 p.m. July 30.
