Imagine owning a slice of a king's domain — the king of basketball, that is. His Airness, Michael Jordan, is forever etched in the hearts of millions worldwide, but nowhere more than in the heart of Chicago.
Jordan not only dominated on the court, but took life to the next level, and there is no better representation of that than his former estate.
The recently sold estate, now renamed Champions Point, offers a chance to own a piece of “MJ” history — for anyone with a spare million dollars.
John Cooper, a real estate executive originally from Lincoln, NE, is the proud new owner of 2700 Point Lane in Highland Park.
The 56,000-square-foot home set on seven acres of pristinely manicured grounds was purchased for a final total of $14,855,000.
Fun fact: when you add all the numbers up it equals 23 – His Airness’ jersey number while playing with the Bulls.
Cooper, a partner at the real estate firm HAN Capital, purchased the home on his 42nd birthday and is offering the public a unique opportunity to own a piece of legendary history.
After acquiring the estate, Cooper expressed his commitment to preserving the property’s original charm while incorporating modern upgrades.
He’s certainly delivered on that promise. The home features nine bedrooms, 19 bathrooms, a circular infinity pool with an island, a putting green, a tennis court, and a cigar room.
Among the standout features is the full-sized, regulation NBA court, custom-built for Jordan’s personal use.
The hardwood floor, adorned with the iconic Jump man logo at center court, boasts state-of-the-art lighting and sound, along with retractable bleachers and a separate viewing area for spectators.
Imagine shooting hoops with friends where the legendary Jordan and his NBA peers once battled it out in games of 3-on-3 or H-O-R-S-E.
The co-ownership model mirrors that of a vacation timeshare. To buy in, bidding starts at $1 million, with an additional 2% covering the annual maintenance expenses of the property.
Buyers are limited to purchasing a single share. According to a press release from Cooper’s team, "Co-ownership shares can be resold in the future through a structured process, providing owners with flexibility and the option to pass on this exclusive opportunity to others."
Included in the purchase price is the right to use the home for one dedicated week each year. Co-owners are welcome to host up to 20 guests during their stay.
For an additional fee, services like a professional chef, transportation, and exclusive entertainment packages can be arranged.
Shareholders also enjoy priority when selecting dates for hosting events, such as weddings, corporate retreats, or holiday parties.
As Cooper stated, "This is the ideal opportunity for sports enthusiasts, entertainers, businesses, and luxury seekers to own something truly unique."
Owning a piece of Michael Jordan's legacy could very well make you the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) in your social circle.
For interested people can dust off those checkbooks, balance those investment accounts, and kickstart the bidding process by completing the application.
