Effective Jan. 1, Palos Health became part of Northwestern Medicine following approval of the merger and definitive agreement from both organizations' governing boards.

“We look forward to welcoming Palos Health to Northwestern Medicine,” Dean M. Harrison, Northwestern Memorial HealthCare president and CEO, said in a Northwestern Medicine news release. “We will join the physicians and staff of Palos Health to provide convenient access to world class care in the southwest suburbs.”

According to the news release, the merger allows Northwestern Medicine to offer care at 11 hospitals and more than 200 ambulatory sites throughout Chicago, involving a workforce that includes more than 36,000 physicians, nurses and other staff members.
