Those wanting to look closer at one of Chicago’s iconic wonders, Cloud Gate, more commonly known as “The Bean,” may have to wait until spring of 2024.
The city’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events announced that Grainger Plaza, surrounding the tourist attraction, will be undergoing construction beginning Tuesday, August 15, 2023.
The plaza’s pavers will be replaced along with other repairs and accessibility upgrades. The city hopes to enhance the appearance of the nearly 20-year-old park and its visitor experience as one of the most popular attractions in the Midwest.
During this time of construction, public access and view of The Bean will be limited.
