The Chicago Star shines a light on positive local news to inspire the community to love where they live, work and play. Through upbeat news coverage, we light the fire of hope in the hearts of Chicagoans, attracting and retaining talent in our world-class city through the power of media.
We are assembling an advisory board to help us achieve the long-term vision and strategic priorities of a dynamic new force in the Chicago media scene.
Our goals:
*Create positive change in Chicago's media landscape and beyond
*Influence how Chicago is portrayed on the world stage
*Spotlight the innovation, creativity and good in Chicago
*Address controversial topics with a mindful, solutions-based voice
*Provide comprehensive, accurate information to readers
Chicago Star Media’s objective is to expand to cover all of Chicago as a mainstream news source under the Chicago Star masthead. Our advantages over existing local news media are a focus on positive, uplifting news; forward-thinking leadership; and a lean staff empowered with cutting-edge technology to drive efficiency and scale.
The civil unrest, looting and COVID-19 lockdowns of 2020 brought Chicago to its knees, and local news coverage is predominantly negative and sensationalist even during non-pandemic times.
It's time for renewal, time for a new conversation and time for new headlines that send a clear message to the world: This is a city that survives and thrives.
We invite you to be the change you want to see in Chicago's media landscape.
