Vaccines

Two additional mass COVID-19 vaccine sites in Chicago are slated to open today, April 5 at Chicago State University and the American Airlines Conference Center, located at Gallagher Way, city officials announced Thursday.

The Chicago Department of Public Health will oversee the Chicago State University site, and site operations and vaccine administration will be handled by Community Organized Relief Effort and Howard Brown Health, respectively. The new site, which is is expected to serve 1,200 walk-up COVID-19 vaccine appointments and 1,000 drive-through appointments at full capacity, will operate six days a week: noon-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays.

The American Airlines Conference Center site, located next to Wrigley Field, will be capable of administering around 2,000 vaccines a day and will be operated by Advocate Aurora Health.

Registration for vaccine appointments at the two sites is expected to be posted at zocdoc.com/vaccine later this week, with additional appointments added on a daily basis. All Chicago residents eligible for vaccination in phases 1a through 1c will be able to schedule an appointment.

Chicagoans must provide proof of residency at the time of their appointment. A list of acceptable forms of identification can be found at Chicago.gov/COVIDVax.
