The Macy's on State Street unveiled its 53rd annual holiday window displays this week, which form a thank-you letter expressing gratitude toward essential workers and other individuals who have helped the city during a difficult year.

According to a company news release, the setup is designed to celebrate essential workers, first responders, marchers for equality and "Chicagoans who showed their grit, good humor and hopeful spirit during a tumultuous year."

In an additional show of appreciation, on Nov. 23, Macy's delivered Thanksgiving meals from the Walnut Room to frontline workers employed at the COVID-19 unit at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Chicago Police Department 1st District.
