Navy Pier's April job fair hopes to fill more than 225 positions at the Pier.

NYO Jazz, the national youth jazz orchestra of Carnegie Hall, will return to Navy Pier on Thursday, Aug. 4, to give a free performance highlighting American jazz through the ages. This summer is the first time the group has been on tour since 2019.

The program, set for 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Lake Stage in Polk Bros Park, will be performed by an ensemble of 22 jazz musicians between the ages of 16-19. Esteemed trumpeter Sean Jones will lead the performance, and Jazzmeia Horn, a Grammy Award-nominated jazz vocalist, will make an appearance as a special guest artist.

Among the pieces the orchestra will perform are "Single-Cell Jitterbug" by Brooklyn-based composer Darcy James Argue, an arrangement of "The Star-Spangled Banner and Lift Every Voice and Sing" by John Clayton and an Ida B. Wells-inspired piece by Endea Owens.

Other songs in the program include pieces from "Dear Love," Horn's Grammy award-nominated album; contemporary pieces showcasing the influence of jazz on hip-hop, pop and other styles of music; and big band classics by Duke Ellington, Bob Brookmeyer and more.
