Labor Day is officially behind us and for those of you panicking because this may signal the beginning of the end of summer... I have but one word for you:
No.
No, no, no, no, and one more NO just for good measure.
Maybe 20, 30, 40 years ago and beyond that was the case, but if you have been around the past decade or so you are aware that September is most certainly NOT the end of summer. In fact, there have been many times—and this year could be one of them—where September is actually the hottest month of the whole year!
That’s right, what used to be the cool autumnal breezes of September have morphed into the sweltering heat and humidity of this ninth month of the year.
You want the real end of summer? Not what the official calendar may tell you? Try mid October. THAT is when the weather actually starts to change, at least based on weather patterns the past few years.
We shall see if this year holds true to that recent trend.
In the meantime folks, keep the warm weather clothes close by, keep swimming pools open, enjoy some more outdoor barbecues, keep the softball games going, the beaches open, and even that wonderful summer music playing.
It may be September, but Mr. Summer ain’t going anywhere just yet.
