North Water Apartments, 340 E. North Water St.
“This is such an honor to be the doorperson of the month,” Ashley Scott says as she gives an adorable dog named Phineus a treat from her station at the concierge desk.
There is the typical lobby bustle in terms of greeting visitors, logging in packages and deliveries, and calling up to residents regarding any and all matters.
Ashley’s been with the North Water for a year and a half. “When I started, my schedule was all over the place. I’m happy to be settled into the day shift now,” she says.
The North Water is tucked away in an urban cul-de-sac, just north of the Chicago River. There’s a very tranquil vibe in the multi-level lobby, creating the ambiance of a wellness resort.
The North Water was built in 2015 adjacent to the Loew’s Chicago Hotel, with access to the hotel’s amenities. “Residents really enjoy the fitness center, sky lounge, and pool,” says Ashley.
“This is such a chill and laid-back place to work. The residents of North Water are really a second family to me,” she adds.
Ashley goes on to say that there is a fantastic, diverse mix of residents in terms of ethnicities, ages, and careers.
Ashley Scott was born and raised in Beverly, and speaks proudly of her 8-year-old son, Tyler. “We love to go on adventures including everything from bowling, skating, boat tours, to museums,” she said. And she’s never opposed to a girl’s night out with her friends.
Ashley talks about the importance of family, saying, “I don’t know what I would do without them.” She beams with pride talking about how “hands-on” her parents are as Tyler’s grandparents.
“I am a positive person who believes in treating folks how I want to be treated,” Ashley adds. She values communication, and calls herself both a people person and a genuine person. “What you see with me is what you get.”
“I like to show the residents that they are really appreciated, and I will say that I’m a thoughtful person. ”As if to illustrate her point, Ashley pauses to make sure an elderly resident is “good to go” after a recent surgery.
It’s obvious the residents of North Water appreciate Ashley’s thoughtful nature as their very own doorperson of the month.
