One Tail at a Time, an animal rescue in Chicago, celebrated its 14th birthday. Shown here, Heather Owen, executive director/co-founder, with a happy rescue.
In 2008, five friends sat at a table and talked about what they could do to help Chicago's dogs that were dying in city shelters.
That moment set off 14 years of rescues, keeping families together, connecting with its community and helping to complete families.
What started as five people has turned into thousands and thousands of volunteers, fosters, adopters, and donors who have come together to try and make this world a better place for animals and their people.
One Tail at a Time now rescues dogs, cats and bunnies. The nonprofit will host its signature fundraiser, the Houndstooth Ball on March 12, 2022, at Morgan Manufacturing.
