Chicago’s CAC River Cruise aboard First Lady has soared to No. 4 among top U.S. experiences. According to the announcement, Tripadvisor’s 2026 Travelers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best Things to Do named the iconic cruise in this elite spot. Fewer than 1% of 8 million listings earn such praise from travelers, the press release confirmed.
The award stems from a high volume of glowing reviews over 12 months. It joins prior wins like “Best Boat Tour” in the 2025 USA TODAY 10BEST Readers’ Choice Awards. Chicago Reader also named it “Best Tour” for years, as reported by the Chicago Architecture Center press release.
Unique storytelling sets cruise apart
Certified docents lead this 90-minute journey along all three Chicago River branches. They spotlight more than 50 iconic buildings with open-air views. Narration stays fresh, updated for the evolving skyline, said the press release.
No two tours match. Over 150 volunteer docents deliver unscripted tales of Chicago’s architectural history. For 30-plus years, it has defined Chicago architecture tours nationwide. Aimed at visitors and locals, the cruise blends history and design.

Boosting education and easy access
Ticket proceeds fuel the CAC’s nonprofit work, the announcement noted. This supports design education for thousands of Chicagoans yearly. Free youth programs like Girls Build!, We Build! camps, Teen Fellows and Engineering Fest benefit.
Board at 112 E. Wacker Drive, northeast corner of Michigan Avenue. Tickets start at $57. Priority options from $72 add early boarding and CAC exhibits access.
Upgrade for $5 to visit the award-winning Chicago Architecture Center. Tours sell out fast, especially on weekends and evenings. Book ahead at cruise.architecture.org for details on parking and more.
This ranking cements the cruise’s status in Chicago skyline cruises. Travelers praise its expert guides and skyline spectacle.
