His name is Carlos Daniels, and he is known as the “Lead Concierge” at Moment Chicago, a stunning apartment building near the North Side. Caribbean music plays in the lobby, with gorgeous Christmas decorations to enjoy. It’s a world apart from a bustling McClurg Court.

“I’ve been here since almost the beginning,” smiles Carlos. Moment Chicago was built in 2016, and Carlos joined the team in 2017. “My background is about 20 years in the security industry and 10 in retail.” Clearly, Carlos is a customer service-oriented guy who deems himself a “people pleaser.”

Carlos conducts his security duties keenly, monitoring and documenting the day-to-day happenings, anywhere from issues with an elevator to a tenant’s fire alarm being ignited. Carlos tries to “reason through situations with kindness” with any and all parties concerned with any and all issues that arise.

He is very involved in training personnel and helping them with all matters. “I’m able to point people in the right direction as far as dining, shopping, and Chicago’s many events.”  Not to mention, one of his favorite pastimes is talking about sports and politics with the residents.

As it’s a bustling lobby, Carlos credits himself with being “good at multitasking and problem-solving – even anticipating issues before they happen and preventing them in the first place.”  In addition, Carlos functions on behalf of building management, communicating work orders, parking garage issues, and any other everyday issues.

Residents consist of both renters and corporate units. The residents are highly diverse, “anywhere from snowbirds to students.” His favorite part of the job is interacting with the kids and the dogs. “I’ve had the pleasure of watching some of these kids from infancy to age seven.”

A tour includes an amenity floor with everything: cabanas, jacuzzis, a steam room, a massage room, a theater room, and even a kitchen for hosting events. “The pool and lounge is on the rooftop, but it’s obviously closed for the season.” Moment Chicago is home to “all kinds of people from young families to students, retirees and even folks who use their space at Moment Chicago as a second home.”

Carlos is a born and bred Chicagoan. “In my spare time, I like video gaming, tinkering with rebuilding desktop computers, and I’m a movie buff.” He’s also learning Javascript to help create and repair computer programs and loves to spend time with his nieces and nephews.
