It's hard to say whether Jason Branch, his building manager or the residents are more excited that he's Doorperson of the Month. Suffice it to say that everyone is ready to throw a giant party.

Look up the definition of "customer service," and you'll find a headshot of Jason. This gentleman goes above and beyond the call of duty daily with his positive demeanor, "life is short, so let go of the negativity." A native of Chicagoland, Jason's been a doorman at 600 N. Fairbanks for 3 years and in the industry for 30 years.

600 N. Fairbanks is a 15-year-old condominium building. Many residents are "snowbirds" and flock to Florida, Texas, or California during winter. While Jason's vacation time is limited, he's "honored to serve all residents, whether they're full or part-timers."

"It's so important to set a positive tone," especially considering he's the first encounter for potential buyers. Jason also enjoys making a good impression on residents' friends and family. The candy dish he keeps on the desk further enhances the positive vibe set by Jason, and he hands out treats to his "nieces and nephews." That's how Jason refers to the children in the building. The canines of 600 N. Fairbanks devour the treats he provides for them.

Not part of the job description: delivering packages and food orders directly to residents' doors. Jason never takes a lunch break. Instead, he takes the 30-minute break and loads up luggage racks with packages to take them to the doors of households. This tradition began with helping the elderly and new mothers and expanded to all residents. He gives credit to his coworkers for pitching in at the front desk while he completes his rounds.

"It's easy to excel when you have a building manager like mine." His manager, who he calls "Z" (short for Zorika), greets him daily and asks about life. Residents express their gratitude both verbally and with tangible gifts. Jason appreciates all of it.

Jason also appreciates his wife of 23 years, Jay, for making him the best version of himself. "My good characteristics, nurtured by my parents, have been taken to another level thanks to my wife's positive influence." Their 21-year-old daughter is in the Air Force and lives in Colorado Springs. Jason and Jay enjoy cooking, movies, and long walks in their spare time.
