Brandon Cash is the face of Exhibit Apartments, and it doesn't take long to understand why. He has a special aura about him—kind, patient, observant, and genuinely welcoming. That aura helped get him named Doorperson of the Month.
As supervisor of all door personnel at Exhibit, he credits much of his success to“being raised old-school by my mother and my grandmother.” He even wears a two-sided medallion around his neck featuring images that represent his family.
“I smile and speak to everyone, no matter what,” he says.

Brandon has 12 years of experience in security and concierge services. Over the years, he has encountered countless personalities and situations, teaching him the importance of treating everyone with respect.
“I've just dealt with so many people, personalities and situations over the years. You've got to treat everyone equally,” he says.
Exhibit, a nine-year-old apartment community in Chicago's River North neighborhood, sits at 165 W. Superior. Residents enjoy an array of features, including an on-site gym, Goddess and the Baker restaurant, a pet park, and an amenity floor complete with a large swimming pool, ping-pong table, Pac-Man, and classic board games.
Brandon is quick to point out that his success would not be possible without the support of the entire staff, including the property manager, leasing office, maintenance and housekeeping teams.
“It's mostly young people, and even those who have moved still visit,” he explains.
One particularly memorable visitor is golden retriever Benny, a four-legged former resident. Benny still stops by with his owner, knowing he'll receive two dog treats—which he expertly catches in midair.

Brandon also enjoys decorating the lobby for each holiday. In October and for a Nov. 1 visit, the Halloween decorations were still on display, adding to the welcoming atmosphere he works so hard to create.
His personal motto is simple: “Do unto others as you would want done to yourself.”
Brandon attributes much of his commitment to helping others to his lifelong involvement in the church.
“My friends and I used to play church like other kids played house,” he recalls.
Today, that early influence is reflected in his work as a minister and director of a youth department, where he encourages young people and shares the wisdom gained through his own life experiences.
“I had a rough childhood and lost my mother at an early age. I want to help those who are less fortunate,” he says.
Whether he's welcoming residents, calming a difficult situation, handing out treats to a familiar four-legged visitor or mentoring young people, Brandon makes a difference through the simple act of treating others with kindness.
