Regina Franklin is a rock star at The Streeter. She does everything from screening visitors and holding babies for parents to dispensing dog treats. Everyone knows her name, and residents congregate at the front desk during her shift as if it were a pub at happy hour.
Despite being full-time at The Streeter for only a year, it’s quite an honor for her to receive a nomination in such a short time. She cites her strength as “making people feel at home,” but it’s evident that she is friendly, humorous, and has a magnetic personality.
“You have to multitask all the time, every day. Food deliveries are constant.” It’s a bustling lobby. There are cameras to monitor, and she maintains contact with the maintenance team via walkie-talkies. Regina’s adored by the management team as they float in and out of the office to confer with her about various matters.

The Streeter is a luxury apartment building located in the center of the Streeterville neighborhood. It shares an urban, brick cul-de-sac with 355 E. Ohio St., and there are many dining options. A tour of the amenity floor includes a gym, basketball court, pool, spa, library, business center, and party room complete with billiards and foosball.
“What I like about this building is that you meet people from all walks of life.” She pauses to verify yet more food deliveries, and a dog awaits a treat from beside her desk. “You have residents that work on the Northwestern medical campus, young families, and retired folks.”
Born and raised in Lincoln Park, Regina still resides there. Her previous experience includes working at the front desk in various commercial buildings and on the Northwestern medical campus. She’s also worked in customer service for both Target and AT&T.
Regina enjoys “styling” her “besties” with makeup and hair. “People come to me to help with their outfit choices.” In addition to caring for her “besties,” Regina also babysits dogs and kids in her spare time.
She loves to cook soul food and bake; her favorite restaurant is Pappadeaux of Westmont. Regina also enjoys bowling, Top Golf, and gaming at Dave & Buster’s.
Regina’s best friend is her mom, who adores her big, blended family. “Someday, I want lots of kids.” Interestingly, she shares a birthday with one of her sisters, Dee Dee, right around the corner in December.
There is a popular pub in the building, but Regina’s front desk is the place to be.
