All Too Well celebrated National Sandwich Month with a Cheez-It inspired sandwich

Gourmet Sandwiches at All Too Well

August may have been National Sandwich Month, but Chicagoans still enjoy some of the best in the city all year round. It's still the perfect time to celebrate one's unconditional love for the almighty sandwich. From beef sandwiches to grilled cheese, there is a never-ending list of treats for diners to enjoy.

All Too Well, located at 352 West Armitage Ave., created the ultimate cheesy cracker Cheez-It sandwich that captured the attention of sandwich lovers last month. Owner and Chef Mitchell Aboujamra made this creative masterpiece in partnership with Kellogg's Away From Home, dedicated to helping restaurants stay ahead of consumer food cravings by inspiring culinary innovations. It was indeed one of the cheesiest partnerships ever.

Chef Aboujamra, known for his mouth-watering gourmet sandwich menu, offered the "Gutman Bros" as the "Sandwich of the Month" in August. The sandwich started with two tasty fried waffle hash browns on the outside. Then inside, it came with a choice of bacon or a sausage patty and a Cheez-It infused whipped cheese, Cheez-It fried onions, and avocado. After my first bite, I was in cheesy heaven.

The "Gutman Bros" was indeed the ultimate breakfast sandwich ready for primetime. I could eat this sandwich at any time of the day. I loved the tasty fried hash brown waffles as a bread replacement. It was the perfect holder for all of the yumminess in the middle. The Cheez-It snack works great with chefs' bold flavors.

Customers who purchased the “Gutman Bros” sandwich in August also received a free 1.5-ounce package of Cheez-It Original Snack Crackers. Just when I thought this sandwich could not get any cheesier, it just did.

When asked about teaming up with Kellogg Company to create this sandwich, Chef Aboujamra said in a press release, “At All Too Well, we use unique ingredients and reimagine classics, so utilizing Cheez-It in a sandwich just makes perfect sense.” We all grew up enjoying snack crackers, so seeing the chef’s creativity incorporating a snack cracker into his new sandwich was a treat.

You’ll find other creative sandwiches at All Too Well, which opened in 2022, next to sister restaurant Evette’s in Lincoln Park. Chef Aboujamra opened the sandwich shop as a tribute to growing up in a family of butchers, and in the kitchen, you’ll find a meat slicer that perfectly cuts every meat.

During my visit, I fell in love with the Bombay Chulet. This sandwich has paper-thin slices of turkey and prosciutto with stracciatella cheese and aioli, spicy fig jam, chili crunch, arugula, and fried onion. The spicy fig and chili crunch ingredients truly elevate this sandwich to a gourmet level.

There are many more creative sandwiches to explore at All Too Well, and Chef Aboujamra’s gourmet sandwiches go beyond the typical bologna sandwich we all ate as children in school.
