Gibsons Steakhouse to expand for the first time outside of Illinois, heads to Nashville

Chicago-based Gibsons Restaurant Group is bringing its flagship steakhouse brand to downtown Nashville for the first time, marking the chain’s first location outside Illinois, according to the Chicago Business Journal. The new restaurant will open on the first floor of 414 Union Street, a historic tower now being redeveloped into a mixed-use community with live, work, dine, and shop space, the report confirmed.

The restaurant is scheduled to open in spring 2028, as reported by Nation’s Restaurant News. Per the report, TC Investment Holdings said it signed the lease for the space and called the deal a major step in the building’s revival.

What the Nashville location will offer

Gibsons’ Nashville outpost is expected to serve the brand’s signature USDA Prime Angus steaks, fresh seafood and raw bar selections, along with an expanded wine and bourbon program, the Chicago Business Journal confirmed. The restaurant will also include private dining, event space, and outdoor seating.

Steve Lombardo III, CEO of Gibsons Restaurant Group, said in a statement that the company had been searching Nashville for years and found “the perfect combination of history, character, and location at 414 Union Street for our flagship Tennessee restaurant,” per Nation’s Restaurant News.

Joe Field, partner at TC Investment Holdings, said in a release that the addition of Gibsons is “a transformational step in the continued revitalization of the historic 414 Union Building and downtown Nashville,” according to the Chicago Business Journal. Field confirmed the brand will help turn the property into one of the city’s premier mixed-use destinations.

Gibsons Restaurant Group was founded in Chicago’s Gold Coast in 1989, the Chicago Business Journal said, and has grown into a portfolio that includes Gibsons Italia, Hugo’s Frog Bar & Fish House, Ristorante Quartino and The Boathouse. The group’s Chicago restaurants have ranked among the country’s top-grossing independent restaurants.

More than 150 jobs are expected to be created by the Nashville restaurant, per the Chicago Business Journal.
