Popular London-based grab-and-go sandwich chain, Pret A Manger, has reopened one of its stores in Chicago's Loop after closing its doors in 2020, according to Block Club Chicago. Located at 73 W. Monroe St., the shop specializes in fresh, ready-made sandwiches, soups, coffee, and breakfast foods for those on the move.
First arriving in Chicago in 2010, Pret A Manger quickly expanded, opening 10 stores in the city between 2010 and 2020. The chain gained a loyal following due to its focus on fresh ingredients and healthy menu options. In 2020 the COVID-19 pandemic forced the sandwich chain to restructure its business model and shutter its Loop stores.
The reopened store is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, catering to the weekday crowd of professionals and visitors alike. A wide variety of delicious breakfast and lunch items are available for hungry customers. The location is ideal for downtown workers and busy city dwellers, making it a perfect stop for a quick bite during the workday.
As the world adjusts to a post-pandemic reality, businesses like Pret A Manger are finding new ways to cater to customers. The return of Pret A Manger is a testament to the resilience of downtown businesses and a welcome addition as the Loop continues its economic rebound.
It remains to be seen if other Pret A Manger locations will follow suit and reopen in the future, but for now, Chicagoans can enjoy the fresh, ready-made offerings at the Monroe Street location.
