Chicago’s Pretty Cool Ice Cream launches CTA-themed pops image one

Two Chicago staples have joined forces to sweeten summer commutes with limited-edition ice cream pops inspired by the city’s “L” train lines. According to an announcement, Pretty Cool Ice Cream and the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) launched the collaboration to celebrate National Ice Cream Month.

The collection features four flavors matching specific train lines, available exclusively at theLogan Square shop from Friday, July 3, through Monday, August 31. Dana Cree, co-founder of Pretty Cool, said in the press release, “Chicago summers are all about finding joy in the little moments, and few things are more nostalgic than hopping on the train and grabbing an ice cream to cool down on a hot day.”

Flavors and giveback mission

The lineup includes the Brown Line Cookies & Cream, Orange Line Mango Passionfruit, Blue Line Blue Moon, and Red Line Strawberry Tres Leches. According to the announcement, each pop features a custom shell of various flavors and sprinkles matching the line’s signature color.

A portion of proceeds from every sale will benefit the CTA Holiday Food Train, a program that has delivered food to more than 11,900 families since 1992, the press release stated.

CTA Acting President Nora Leerhsen said, “This is more than a fun collaboration–it’s a partnership with purpose. Proceeds will benefit the annual CTA Holiday Food Train, continuing our long-standing tradition of giving back to the communities we serve.

To mark National Ice Cream Day, the partners will host a free popsicle giveaway at select CTA stations on Sunday, July 19.
