IL Representative Darren Bailey (R-109) relieved himself of the ‘stay-at-home’ burden by filing suit against Governor JB Pritzker on April 23. He originally announced the suit in a post on his website titled, "Enough is Enough."
“I filed this lawsuit on behalf of myself and my constituents who are ready to go back to work and resume a normal life,” he wrote.
The complaint alleges that Governor Pritzker exceeded his emergency powers by extending the original March 20 ‘stay-at-home’ Executive Order for an additional 30 days, an action that “limits Bailey’s constitutionally protected freedoms.” It requested an injunction “permanently enjoining Pritzker, or anyone under his authority, from enforcing the March 20 Executive Order against Bailey from this date moving forward.”
On April 27, Clay County Circuit Court Judge Michael McHaney agreed and issued a restraining order against the governor.
