Lollapalooza street closures begin

Lollapalooza weekend is just days away, and road closures have officially begun in downtown Chicago. Significant closures will impact the area surrounding Grant Park during the festival and its subsequent tear-down.  

Street closures include the following: 

  • Balbo Drive from Columbus to DuSable Lake Shore Drive is closed and will remain closed until Sunday, August 13. The Balbo closure will extend to Michigan Avenue on Monday, July 31, at 8:00 p.m. and will continue to be closed until Monday, August 7.

  • Jackson Drive from Columbus to DuSable Lake Shore Drive is closed and will remain closed until Saturday, August 12. The Jackson closure will extend to Michigan Avenue on Monday, July 31, at 8:00 p.m. and will continue to be closed until Monday, August 7.

  • Columbus Drive from Monroe to Roosevelt will be closed from Monday, July 31, at 8:00 p.m. until Monday, August 7. Additional northbound center lanes on Columbus from 13th Street to Roosevelt Road will also be closed on Monday, July 31, at 8:00 p.m. with Columbus reopening on Monday, August 7.

  • Congress Pkwy/Circle will be closed from Michigan to Columbus on Monday, July 31, at 8:00 p.m. and remain closed until Monday, August 7.

  • Monroe Street from Michigan to DuSable Lake Shore Drive will be closed from Wednesday, August 3, until Monday, August 7, at 7:00 a.m.

Motorists are advised to consider alternate routes during Lollapalooza. Traffic control personnel will be on-site to direct drivers. For additional information, visit the City of Chicago official site.
