Choose Chicago has announced an exciting three-day independent film experience coming to Chicago this summer, in partnership with the Sundance Institute.

From June 28 through June 30, Sundance Institute x Chicago 2024 will host artists programs, film screenings, and activations geared towards emerging filmmakers. The event aims to highlight Chicago’s vibrant arts community and further its reputation as a destination for filmmaking.

Sundance Institute x Chicago will be the first event hosted by the nonprofit outside of Park City, Utah, home of its prestigious annual Sundance Film Festival. Since its inception in 1981, the Sundance Institute has championed independent filmmaking and supported the voices of underrepresented artists.

According to a statement from Choose Chicago, the event will feature screenings of four films from the January 2024 Sundance Film Festival, filmmaker Q&As, a short film program and masterclass for emerging and underrepresented filmmakers, and panel discussions at the Chicago Cultural Center.

Mayor Brandon Johnson has expressed his support for this partnership, saying, "This collaboration between Choose Chicago, the City of Chicago, and the Sundance Institute is a momentous occasion for our city. It not only celebrates our rich filmmaking heritage but also provides an unparalleled platform for our local talent to engage with industry leaders and decision-makers. This event is a shining example of our commitment to enriching Chicago's cultural landscape and fostering an environment where the arts can thrive."

Tickets for Sundance Institute x Chicago will be available soon, visit the Sundance Institute official site for more information.
