“He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.” — Psalm 23:2-3

There’s something sacred about a family vacation in the summertime. Whether it’s a road trip across the country, a week at the beach, or just a few days away at a cabin or campsite, these moments create space to breathe — to laugh, to reconnect, and to make memories that last a lifetime.

Family vacations often reflect the very heart of God. He designed us for relationship, both with Him and with each other. He knows how busy life can get and how easily we can drift apart in the chaos of daily responsibilities. But summer, with its slower rhythm, offers a divine opportunity: time to draw close — not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually.

When we step away from our routines, we’re often more open to wonder. Watching a sunset together, playing games, eating meals without rush — these moments build more than just good memories; they build bonds. And in those simple, joyful interactions, we catch a glimpse of God’s goodness and His desire for us to live in unity and peace.

Vacations remind us that rest is not a luxury — it’s a biblical rhythm. Even Jesus took time to retreat with His disciples. In Mark 6:31, He says, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Rest and reconnection are part of God’s design.

So this summer, whether your family is traveling far or staying close to home, approach your time together with intention. Laugh freely. Forgive quickly. Speak kindly. And most of all, invite Jesus into the moments. He is there in the car rides, the shared meals, the evening walks — and He longs to refresh not just your body, but your heart and your relationships.
