African church service

BANGOR -- Two churches are sharing one space in Bangor, all in an effort to bring the gospel to more people in the community.

Members of the Bangor Church of the Nazarene on Union Street gather for service on Sunday mornings while in the afternoon the church building is used for a service by African immigrants looking to worship in their native language. It's a new partnership that's been underway for a little over a month, and so far community members are enjoying both options.

"So the beautiful thing about this group of people is they speak more languages than I can count. And so they'll speak in their native language and depending on who is there, they'll have someone sit next to you and translate the service for you," explained Bangor Church of the Nazarene Pastor Jackson Moody.

"They need to see our culture, how we praise and worship, and then we need to see how they do it here," said African Pastor Joseph Masoro. "So we have big plans for our church here in Bangor and it's all for the glory of God."

The morning worship service takes place at 10:15 a.m. on Sundays while the African services are offered in the afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m. The public is always welcome to attend either service.
