A Church Hill woman accused of burgling neighbor’s residence early Friday morning while highly intoxicated reportedly screamed “let them out, let them” before breaking through a glass window.
On Dec. 20 around 12:55 a.m. HCSO Deputy Jordan Bryant was dispatched to a residence on Glendale Drive near Church Hill in reference to a burglary in progress. While en route Bryant was notified by Central Dispatch that the suspect had gotten into the house and the residents had barricaded themselves in the back bedroom.
Upon arriving at the address the homeowners and neighbors stated they saw the suspect walk out the front door and around to the back of the residence.
Bryant reported that he, another deputy, and officers from Mount Carmel and Church Hill searched the area.
During the search Officers locate the suspect hiding near vehicles in the area. and she was identified as Tammy Lynn Perry, 53, of Church Hill.
Perry was arrested and Bryant reportedly noticed that she was covered in blood and “highly intoxicated”.
“When asked what happened she was incoherent and had trouble standing on her own,” Bryant stated in his report. “When EMS arrived at my location and they checked Tammy‘s injuries, I spoke to the victims who stated they heard Tammy outside the house yelling ‘get them out and get them out’. Then they heard a loud crash and glass breaking coming from the living room window next to the front porch.”
The victims stated they closed the bedroom door while Perry entered the residence. Perry then reportedly left out the front door and attempted to hide from law-enforcement. Bryant reported that he observed blood inside the home and broken glass in the residence, and outside from the break-in.
Upon being checked for her injuries and cleared by Hawkins County EMS, Perry was arrested and booked on charges including aggravated burglary and vandalism. She was held in the Hawkins County Jail with no bond set pending arraignment Monday in Sessions Court.
