Sprinkling restrictions are now in effect for Butte-Silver Bow residents.
The restrictions allow residents living in even numbered homes to water their lawns on even-numbered days. Odd-numbered houses water their lawns on odd-numbered days.
There will be no watering lawns on the 31st day of any month.
Watering times are from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m.
According to a spokesperson with the B-SB Water Division, these restrictions help reduce daily demand and better enable the Water Division to supply water for the summer months.
Sprinkling is also restricted from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., which is considered the hottest part of the day.
“Much of the water evaporates before it can be absorbed by the lawn,” said a spokesperson.
Residents are asked to water during the cooler hours of the late evening and early morning. Failure to observe the restrictions could result in fines and fees up to $100 and the loss of sprinkling privileges.
