UPDATE (8/14/25) — Authorities recovered a drunk driver's submerged vehicle from Bluestem Lake Thursday morning.
The Pawhuska Police Department said on Aug. 6, a woman was driving while drunk and drove into the lake. The vehicle was left completely submerged, deep enough to not interfere with boaters.
Around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, the vehicle was recovered.
Pawhuska Police thanks the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Allied Towing of Tulsa for their assistance in the recovery effort.
PAWHUSKA, Okla. — Pawhuska Police arrested a person who is accused of driving a vehicle into Bluestem Lake while intoxicated.
On Aug. 6, the driver drove into Bluestem Lake and the vehicle became completely submerged. Police said officers responded to the scene and arrested the suspect who is from Bristow.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol helped locate the vehicle and is scheduled to recover it on Thursday morning. OHP said the vehicle is submerged deep enough to not interfere with boaters.
Police shared a reminder that drinking and driving significantly impairs judgement and reaction times, leading to accidents that can cause serious injuries or fatalities.
