BOZEMAN, Mont. – Family Promise of Gallatin Valley, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting homeless families with children, is reaching out for extra support this holiday season as it faces a funding shortfall.
Christel Chvilicek, executive director of Family Promise, explained the organization's mission to maintain its homeless prevention and diversion programs into the next year. "I think it's just really important to know that just because we don't see them, doesn't mean that they don't exist," she said. "And once again that there are community members, you know, they work at local restaurants and service stations and all of that. And sometimes you just need a hand up to help you on your journey, and that's exactly what we're trying to do here."
The nonprofit opened its Journey Home campus last year, providing emergency and transitional housing for those on the brink of homelessness. In the past five years, Family Promise has expanded its services from assisting about 25 families annually to 400.
Chvilicek emphasized the importance of keeping families in their current homes to prevent homelessness. "Their work has helped keep struggling families in the housing that they're at, which is one of the most important things in preventing homelessness," she stated.
To continue their efforts, Family Promise aims to raise $400,000. Those interested in donating can contact Christel Chvilicek directly at 406-582-7388.
