A Faribault man has been charged with third degree criminal sexual conduct after he allegedly engaged in an intimate relationship with a 15-year-old girl, despite being warned not to do so by her father.
Alexis Jaramillo del Carmen, 21, was charged in Rice County District Court with the felony on July 29, close to three months after the reported victim and her father met with Faribault police officials.
The reported victim said that she met Jaramillo del Carmen in November 2024 and they became friends, encountering each other at family events and messaging each other over Snapchat, then began to spend time together in February 2025.
According to the indictment, the reported victim’s father became very concerned about her relationship with Jaramillo del Carmen, after hearing stories from family members. He said he told Jaramillo del Carmen that he was not welcome in his home and could not spend time with his daughter.
The reported victim’s father said that Jaramillo del Carmen had asked him if he could date his daughter and he said no. He also reported to police that on May 1, he had seen Jaramillo del Carmen enter his house along with his daughter and suspected they engaged in sexual relations.
After several denials, the reported victim is alleged to have acknowledged on May 2 that she had engaged in sexual relations with Jaramillo del Carmen but claimed it was “consensual” and no force or coercion was used.
According to police officials, Jaramillo del Carmen also reportedly admitted to police that he had engaged in sexual relations with the reported victim but also claimed that “he had never forced (her) to do anything.”
