SAN BERNARDINO, California — A dramatic scene unfolded on I-15 near Cleghorn Road yesterday afternoon when a woman went into labor. Mrs. Accardo, 38 weeks pregnant, was being rushed to the hospital by her sister when the unexpected event occurred.
Officers Zamora, Rafael, and Carrillo of the California Highway Patrol - San Bernardino quickly arrived at the scene, transforming the freeway shoulder into an impromptu delivery room. They supported Mrs. Accardo through her contractions until she could be safely transported to the hospital, according to the California Highway Patrol - San Bernardino.
Thanks to the officers' swift actions, both Mrs. Accardo and her newborn daughter, Isabel, are safe. "Welcome to the world, little one. You've already made quite an entrance!" stated the department.
