GRASS VALLEY, California — In the early hours of December 5, workers at a licensed cannabis farm in Grass Valley were held at gunpoint during a robbery, according to the Nevada County Sheriff's Office.
The suspects remain at large.
The Nevada County Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting trespassing and a possible break-in at the farm located in the 12000 block of Sunshine Valley Road. Surveillance cameras at the property had reportedly been disabled. Deputies from the Nevada County Sheriff's Office responded and discovered that five victims, who worked and resided at the property, were held at gunpoint while they were sleeping. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The robbers fled before deputies arrived, taking approximately 150 pounds of processed cannabis valued at $1,000 per pound, resulting in a business loss of around $150,000. The suspects include three adult males described as African American, Hispanic, and Caucasian, all wearing masks and gloves. Up to four additional suspects were reportedly involved, but no further descriptions are available.
The investigation is ongoing, with surveillance footage under review. The Sheriff's Special Investigation Unit encourages anyone with information to call (530) 265-1471, and anonymous tips are welcome.
