ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A new dashboard allows you to see Allentown Police activity at your fingertips.
People are now able to access up-to-date information on police activity throughout the city.
"It's a tool that opens up real-time police data to our public," said Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk.
"This dashboard provides an increase in transparency and a means for our residents to be informed about the incidents that we receive at the Allentown Police Department," said Allentown Police Chief Charles Roca.
Now on the department's website, Chief Roca said you can see a list of incidents going back to January 1st of 2024.
"The dashboard shows both the hotspots of incidents as well as locations for each aggregated to the nearest intersection to allow for the anonymity for all parties involved," said Chief Roca.
It can all be seen on a map.
A violent incident analysis, quality of life reports and trends over time are all available.
"Part of my hope is that this encourages individuals, our citizens, our business owners to report crimes or incidents that may be happening within the city because it's vital that we're informed," said Chief Roca.
Mayor Matt Tuerk said the dashboard is all part of a broader initiative focused on transparency and accountability in public safety.
"The other thing that I ask you to do is provide us with any feedback that you have, things that you think we can add to a tool like this, things that you think would be an improvement to things like this," said Mayor Tuerk.
Police said information comes from its record management system.
The incident dashboard will be updated every day around midnight.
You can access the dashboard by going to the Allentown Police Department's website.
