Letter to the editor: Voters' common-sense ideals

Lets take a look back to eight months ago when our current president was elected by the people. The outcome of this election, in my opinion, had very little to do with Donald Trump or with Kamala Harris or Joe Biden for that matter.

People didn't vote for Trump because they liked him! The result of the election was due to the agenda of the Democratic Party, which was WAY out of touch with most U.S. citizens.

Let's look at a few. 1) Defund the police — seriously? While we're at it, let's defund firefighters and first responders too. Makes about as much sense. 2) Forgiving student loans? I was taught if you borrow money you pay it back. 3) Sanctuary cities. This turned out to be a great way to make a mess out of some one-time great cities. 4) Boys allowed to compete in girls' athletics? What a travesty when a girl that has worked hard is denied a medal or worse, a scholarship due to this inane idea.

The voters didn't support any of these things. Where was the leadership of the Democratic Party during this? They are not stupid people. Apparently just arrogant if they thought people would stay quiet. Well they didn't stay quiet — they voted. I am a strong believer in the two-party system because in theory it holds things in check. And the Republican Party is certainly not without fault. But the voters in this country will continue to hold on to some basic, common-sense ideals in future elections.
