MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis Police (MPD) are looking for the person they say shot and killed a man and injured a teen at the Bickford Square Apartments in North Memphis Thursday morning.
A neighbor told FOX13 they heard roughly a dozen gunshots.
"Sounded like the Fourth of July out here," the neighbor said. "This happens a lot right here."
Police say the man killed was 19 years old and the teen injured was 16.
Calvin Quinn came to the scene to see if his grandson was one of the victims.
"It's just a scary moment not knowing what happened and only you can wait and see for them to tell me what happened," Quinn told FOX13.
Quinn left the scene without answers, but did say he's tired of the violence in Memphis.
“The violent crime in Memphis is still up, don’t let anybody fool you on that. I see it every day with yellow tape," Quinn said. "For them to say the crime rate is down, it may be down but the Black kids getting killed in Memphis ain’t down, it’s up.”
FOX13 spoke to someone close to the investigation. They did not want to be identified for safety reasons. They said all they can do is hold onto their faith a solution to the city's crime is found.
"Worry about nothing and pray about everything," the source said. "We just never know what tomorrow brings or the next hour or minute."
Police are still looking for the gunmen. If you have any information, you are asked to call Memphis Police.
