A Lithia Springs man was arrested late last week after trying to cash $1,700 worth of checks made out to his dead father.
Travis Michael Rochester, 39, faces two counts of theft by deception and one count each of identity fraud and forgery. He remains free on a $4,000 bond.
According to arrest warrants from the Douglasville Police Department, Rochester cashed checks for $400 and $550 at the Synovus Bank on Chapel Hill Road. The transactions took place between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. on June 20.
Rochester returned to the bank around 4:30 p.m. and attempted to cash a third check for $750 using his late father’s driver’s license.
