MONTANA - Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks (FWP) is encouraging residents to kick off 2025 through a unique outdoor challenge. The agency is offered 'First Day Hikes' with a chance to win prizes for those who participate.
Dillon Tabish, Regional Information & Education Program Manager for Montana FWP, explained the prizes available for participants. "So first place... If you get the most points, you win two nights at either the Big Arm State Park yurt or at the cabin at the Finley Park State Park. Second place you win two nights of camping at Logan State Park or the Thompson Chain of Lakes State Park, and then third place gets you $40 at our Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center or our Flathead Lake Ranger Station gift shop," Tabish said.
To participate, hikers must submit photos from activities at Northwest Montana state parks. Categories for photos include picnics, sledding, fishing, and wildlife. Photos should be emailed to [email protected] by 6:00 p.m. on January 3.
Participants can earn points based on activities such as most miles walked, picnics, and fishing. However, photos must be submitted by today, January 3, to be eligible for prizes.
For more information on the rules and how to participate, visit the Montana FWP's website under the "Region 1 State Parks" tab.
