Residents displaced after fire strikes Dorval apartment building

Firefighters responded to a fire that broke out at an apartment building on Dorval Avenue near Lakeshore Drive last Wednesday at approximately 10 a.m. The blaze brought 90 firefighters to the scene.

Flames erupted on the fifth floor of the seven-storey building, spreading quickly and filling the building with smoke.

Emergency crews evacuated all residents. Six people were affected by smoke inhalation, with one requiring hospital transport.

Montreal Police secured the area while firefighters worked to contain the blaze while the Red Cross arrived on site to assist residents requiring immediate help.

This marks Dorval’s most significant apartment fire since September 23, 2023, when a four-alarm fire at 110 Garden Crescent required 100 firefighters to battle a blaze that spread across two buildings, displacing residents from 32 units. In that incident, four residents suffered smoke inhalation, and several pets were rescued, including one cat that required oxygen administration. n
