For a second straight year, Wisconsin's spring turkey harvest has trended greater than the five-year average.

Spring hunters registered 50,287 turkeys during the season that ran from April 16 through May 27, according to the state Department of Natural Resources. While a decrease of less than 1% from last year, it was a 14% increase from the five-year average. This year's harvest total was the fifth highest on record. Turkey hunters had a 22% success rate with more than 90% of the harvest being adult toms.

During the two-day youth hunt on April 12-13 for those ages 16 and under, a total of 3,981 turkeys were registered, an increase of 14 from 2024.

The DNR had 246,068 harvest authorizations available and hunters applied for 228,884 of them.

Turkey hunters have until Dec. 10 to apply for next spring's season.
