Featuring Over 200 NAMM Member Organizations Giving Back to Their Local Communities on Saturday, June 21
CARLSBAD, Calif., June 18, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- NAMM (The National Association of Music Merchants), the largest global not-for-profit music trade organization, and The NAMM Foundation announced today its 10th year of partnering with the Make Music Alliance to present the one-of-a-kind global Make Music Day which features the creativity of music making throughout communities around the world. The 2025 extravaganza returns with a wide assortment of musical programs including over 5,000 free public concerts, artist-led performances, music lessons in a variety of retail settings and spontaneous jam sessions nationwide on Saturday, June 21.
This year, the highlighted NAMM members and their employees are giving back in a big way to mark the largest recorded global celebration of music:
Elixir Strings – Lead sponsor of String Together, they will be providing thousands of guitar strings to 115 music retailers who will be hosting free guitar string-changing sessions for the first 12 registrants at each store.
Harman – Outside of the JBL store in New York City, Harman is inviting the public into a Cadillac OPTIQ Electric SUV, outfitted with a 19-speaker AKG Dolby Atmos sound system, for a stunning immersive experience. One at a time, guests will sit in the front seat and choose a song to sing, from a short playlist of Atmos-mastered songs. And sitting in the back seat will be three professional backup singers, dressed to impress, who have learned the background vocal parts to each song and will be singing along.
PRS Guitars – Hosting showcase of their employee bands at a local brewery. In addition, PRS is marking their 40th Anniversary in 2025 by opening a show at The NAMM Foundation's Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad, CA.
Rhythm Band Instruments – A Mass Appeal sponsor bringing together people of all levels and ages to make music in large, single-instrument groups. Not quite music lessons, not quite jam sessions, Mass Appeals are a special kind of musical happening of their own. And anyone can take part — in many cases, you don't even need to bring an instrument!
Sweetwater – Serving as a national sponsor, Sweetwater Sound is renowned among musicians not only for great deals on music gear, but for being remarkably hands-on and personable in our increasingly anonymous digital era. Sweetwater knows the value of music in building a community. Over the last ten years, they have spread the word to hundreds of thousands of customers, while starting up local Make Music events locally in Fort Wayne IN.
Vic Firth – Providing mallets for Flowerpot Music, a program that gathers 16 groups around the country to perform a composition by celebrated composer Elliot Cole and directed by percussionist Peter Ferry, using an unlikely percussion instrument: the flowerpot. They have also donated 1,200 pairs of drumsticks for Bucket Drumming events nationwide.

Launched in France in 1982 as the Fête de la Musique, Make Music Day has become a global phenomenon, celebrated by millions of people in cities around the world, including 150 cities in the U.S., where it has spread widely after debuting in New York in 2007. Held on the longest day of the year, the world's largest annual music event celebrates and promotes the natural music-maker in everyone, regardless of age or skill level.
Completely different from a traditional music festival, Make Music Day activities are free and open to anyone wanting to participate. Reimagining their cities and towns as stages, every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional and of every musical persuasion — fills streets, parks, plazas, porches, rooftops, gardens, and other public spaces to celebrate, create and share their music with friends, neighbors and strangers.
