Britain commemorated the 80th anniversary of VE Day Monday.

Victory in Europe Day commemorates Germany’s surrender and the end of World War II.

Monday’s parades and pageantry in London featured King Charles, Queen Camilla and the Royal Family ahead of Thursday’s official VE Day. There will be more events throughout the week.

Germany surrendered after Nazi leader Adolf Hitler’s suicide April 30, 1945.

The King as well as Prime Minister Keir Starmer are hosting tea parties and events for veterans and their families.

"We remember and pay tribute to all those who served during World War II," the Royal Family said in a statement.
