According to USA Today, each team will be matched with eight opponents in the draw, ensuring four home and four away matches. The lineup has been decided after competitive qualifying rounds, noted USA Today. After an exciting match sequence, Benfica, Qarabag, and Club Brugge have secured their spots, alongside clubs like Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Liverpool, reports Sports Illustrated.
English clubs make tournament history
This year, the tournament will feature a unique aspect with six teams from the English Premier League participating, USA Today says; Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Chelsea, and Tottenham are all in the running, making history for the league's representation.
Depending on UEFA rankings, teams are placed in four pots, with the draw structured to prevent clubs from the same nation from facing off initially. As per USA Today, Pot 1 includes heavyweights like Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and Manchester City.
Following the league phase, the remaining team duels will determine the final eight. The tournament conditionally promises intense matchups, culminating in a high-stakes final on May 30, 2026, in Budapest, Hungary.
