Lindsay Lohan returns to the big screen in the much-anticipated sequel, Freakier Friday, set to premiere on August 8. Reprising her role as Anna Coleman, Lohan shares the excitement and challenges she faced in bringing the character to life again alongside veteran actress Jamie Lee Curtis.
A Nerve-Racking Musical Return
In an interview withPeople, Lohan described singing again for the film as "nerve-racking at first." She elaborated, "It was good. Well, it was kind of nerve-racking at first, because I’m not singing as me." This return to music was reminiscent of her earlier days, as she was recording an album during the filming of the original Freaky Friday.
The sequel features the return of the fictional band Pink Slip, with performances set to capture fans' hearts once more. Curtis eagerly anticipates the film's music, asserting it will resonate as "the song of the summer" next year.
A Tribute and a Homecoming
Freakier Friday serves as more than just a revival of beloved characters. According to Yahoo’s publication, referring to People’s report, the film pays homage to the California environment and the original movie's iconic house, tragically lost in recent wildfires. Lohan reflected on the significance, stating the project was "such an homage" to cherished memories.
This sequel is also deeply personal for Lohan. Speaking to Elle, she expressed the unique feel of returning to a familiar role. "It felt really special, because I was 10 when I auditioned for The Parent Trap; now I’m 38... it definitely feels unique in a lot of ways, and it’s nice." Fans eagerly await the film's release, celebrating Lohan's triumphant return.
