An incoming storm system could bring hail, thunderstorms, and tornado risks to the Chicago region Tuesday evening.

The National Weather Service issued an alert on Twitter Tuesday afternoon warning of potentially severe weather impacting Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.

“Severe thunderstorms are possible later today into this evening. While the threat exists for the entire area, the greatest threat area is along and west of I-39”, the tweet read.

According to NBC, the primary threats to Chicagoans include hail up to 1 inch in size, gusting winds, and heavy rain. The storm is expected to last into Wednesday morning in some areas.
