Tesla announced Thursday it will recall 125,227 vehicles in the United States after finding malfunctions in the seat belt warning system, increasing injury risk during a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The administration reportedly found that these vehicles did not comply with federal safety standards because the seat belt warning light and chime may fail to activate if the driver is not wearing their seat belt. The recall includes specific 2012-2024 Model S, 2015-2024 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles, according to CNN.

Tesla plans to address the issue with a software release in June, according to CNN, with the rollout expected to begin in June.

Tesla recalled 200,000 Model S, X, and Y vehicles in the US earlier this year, following a software issue that could hinder drivers' visibility when reversing. In April, 3,878 Cybertrucks were also recalled to fix issues with the vehicle's accelerator pad, according to CNN.
