Tornado slams Iowa as severe weather impacts the Midwest

At least one person is dead after a devastating tornado slammed Greenfield, Iowa on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press (AP). Authorities are currently carrying out search and rescue operations to determine if additional deaths or injuries have occurred, according to reports.

The storm reportedly damaged homes and infrastructure in Greenfield, a small town of only 2,000 residents, according to the AP.

After hitting Greenfield, the storms moved across the Midwest to Illinois and Wisconsin, causing mass power outages. According to the AP,  The National Weather Service received 23 tornado reports throughout the Midwest on Tuesday.
