The Ravenswood ArtWalk (RAW) Tour of Arts and Industry is set to captivate art enthusiasts from Saturday, September 14 through Sunday, September 15. Running from Lawrence to Irving Park along Ravenswood Avenue, the annual event will feature open studios, galleries, live music, kids' activities, a beer garden, and food trucks.

The walk celebrates Ravenswood's vibrant creative community, showcasing over 60 local makers. Initially conceived in 2001 by local artist Judith Roth, RAW has expanded each year, now including large-scale participation from local artists and businesses.

Open studios and outdoor markets

RAW’s primary attraction is its open studios and galleries, allowing visitors to see artists at work and learn about the creative process. The RAW Outdoor Arts Market at Ravenswood and Berteau features works from over 60 artists, live music on two stages, and a variety of food trucks offering different cuisines.

The event’s organizers—the Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce along with other community partners—have worked to create an inclusive and engaging experience. Ample bike parking, free car parking, and easy public transit access make attending convenient for all.

Community involvement and volunteer opportunities

Volunteers are integral to the success of RAW. "We need volunteers to help welcome guests, collect donations, sell tickets, serve beer, set up, and break down," said the Ravenswood Community Council. Volunteers receive a special t-shirt, a drink ticket, and invites to both a launch party and a year-end appreciation party.

Proceeds from RAW support small business initiatives and community programming by the Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce and public art projects from the Ravenswood Community Council.

For those looking to immerse themselves in local culture and creativity, the Ravenswood ArtWalk offers a unique opportunity to explore working artist studios while supporting the community. Make sure to plan your visit and preview the lineup using the official RAW tour map.
