A story of sisters and snow
Based on Disney’s Academy Award-winning animated film, the stage musical follows Princesses Anna and Elsa in the mountain kingdom of Arendelle. The sisters grow up apart inside the royal castle, but their lives change when Elsa’s hidden powers emerge during her coronation.
Elsa flees into the mountains as a lasting winter spreads across Arendelle. Anna sets out to find her sister, joined by ice harvester Kristoff, his reindeer Sven and Olaf, a cheerful snowman. The production centers on sisterhood, acceptance and the meaning of true love.
The musical includes the film’s songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, along with new music written for the stage. The production has received three Tony Award nominations, including one for Best Musical, per the announcement.
